Dear people on Furcadia that have become too numerous to count,

Unless your shirt is lost at sea, you should not be mentioning it and the word 'mid-drift' in the same sentence. And stalkings? I'm pretty sure you shouldn't be wearing the act of creepily following someone, plural, as footwear. (I know this sentence is awkwardly worded, it makes sense in my head.)

Dear other people on Furc that think they're being cute,

HOW does a female character with nowhere near the same hair and eye color, wardrobe, weapon, or anything really, look -anything- like a female version of Link? Yes, she's Hylian. That is where the similarities end.

Extremely minor gripe, but:

When both of my characters are male and have green eyes, in the absence of all other context by which to identify which character you're referring to, can we please avoid the phrase "the green-eyed man?"

Because "[your character] saw the green-eyed man from before pass by, and called a greeting" does not help me to know which of my characters you are talking about. Your character has met both of my male, green-eyed characters! This scene comes after a time jump, so I can't say which of my guys is out walking around, or which one should reply to your character's greeting. Does it matter? Do you have a particular character in mind?

And when I ask, could you maybe answer the question?

Additional Minirant: Also, they both have names, your character knows both of their names, and the green eyes are hardly their most unique features. One of them is a feline mutant, the other is three feet tall. Really, "green eyes" was what stood out to you/your character? ...Really?

TL;DR - Hestia Jones is a Chinese, street kid goth called Xaofan Xifeng, who transferred to Hogwarts in her fifth year, 1975, to be near Snape because he's the only one who understands her abandonment issues and untold PAIN!, but was Sorted into Gryffindor because the Hat wanted her to face up to James in a selfish-idiot contest.

Dear you.

Several people told you that your portrayal of a character that you fangirled was OOC. I politely said that I agreed with them. You got butthurt, but claimed to go do some research. You then march back to me, proclaiming that your rendition was right all along, and everyone else must be wrong.

This is a very small group. We all know each other, so we give some extra leniency to one another. At least, I know I do.
But maybe, possibly, since so many of us think you're way OOC, despite whatever you may think from your UNREFUTABLE RESEARCH or whatever that you have yet to show any of us, you actually are OOC? I know, you fangirl him to hell and back but maybe. JUST MAYBE, you don't even understand him very well?



(And yes, this is the same person who pulls random ideas out of her ass and expects to put them in RP, and expected me to give her a lift to an event that was 2 1/2 hours away because I'm her RP buddy, I must understand her better than her RL friends.)

I am so disappointed with myself right now. I know there are many things that I can't do, and I'm not upset when I don't manage them, but when it comes to things I know I can do and then failing... Urgh.
I'm talking about my annual sports badge for which you have to get certain marks in different disciplines. I wasn't as good as in previous years this year because I hadn't done any training in China for a whole year, so I could accept that. I got all the necessary points needed except for sprinting and shotput.

I started to panic, because my arms just wouldn't get the damn shot over 6,50m, and after almost pulling a muscle in training once after I had come back, I was afraid to run fast.
Sometimes you can do other things instead, so I thought instead of shot put I could do gymnastics, where all I had to was do a handstand and an upstart on the horizontal bar. I felt so sure I could make it after last Saturday, where I met with my trainer, I ran like a bat out of Hell just and ran over the finish line one half a second under the required time.

But today it turns out I might have to swim for my life badge, because I was a failure at the bar. My arms just wouldn't listen and I now feel stupid for bursting into tears in front of the children I was supposed to be supervising. They tried to cheer me up, but the fact that they got up there without any problems at all didn't exactly make me feel better.

Oh, complaining about it here doesn't make things better either, but I don't have many people to talk to who understand~ when I'm not happy with my sports results. I know I'm not the best and it's not the most important thing in the world, but it's important to me that I get that badge. Hmpf.

OK, happy things start here

I really enjoyed the Abingdon Boys School concert in Bochum last Tuesday, and "Taka" he's so small! seemed genuinely delighted to be there, too. It was so nice, because everybody had room to move and dance and jump. Even me, in the third row!! 8D
I met some nice people and I gave away some of my earplugs, as I had six pairs with me. Two girls (or young ladies) told me about the signing A.B.S. had earlier I didn't know about and they were so happy Takanori had come to Bochum. They even got to talk to him and showed me some pictures. They managed to make me rather jealous! XD I also met a girl in my university course while waiting in line, Valentina.
I bought a T-shirt, clever as I am, after I had put my bag in the storage room, but it luckily fit into my trouser pocket and nobody paid attention to the awkard bulge while Taka was on stage anyway. Though I have to admit... I was paying more attention to Sunao, who I think is rather handsome in person. *cough* XD~

Making up for his size Taka has a huge voice! And he spoke some German for us, too! I had to laugh when all of the band members listed up some things they associated with Germany. Sauerkraut, Steffi Graf, Beethoven, ... and of course,
ソーセージ!
They also congratulated us for the fall of the Berlin Wall (in German) and they had been in Berlin on the day before. I loved it when Taka was introducing his band members, pointed at Sunao and said: "this is my horse", and then they struck a pose like one of the statues on the Brandenburg Gate.
Other things we got to hear were:
"Ihr seid so geil!" You guys are so awesome!
"Wir lieben euch!" We love you!
"Dass ihr gekommen seid!" That you came! (There was a "Thank you" missing at the beginning of the sentence, but he had said that in Japanese already, so we knew what he meant)
"Ich war in Köln und habe Kölsch getrunken!" I was in Cologne and drank some Kölsch! A beer speciality brewed in Cologne. LOL.
I didn't manage to shake hands at the end, but apart from the wild pogo mob bumping into us occasionally, I had a wonderful time! I was so happy to make them feel happy~ Oh, and they had a new song for us, too~.

Later I caught the bus with Valentina. I had the feeling they would come out again after the lights had gone out (which they did I later found out), but I had a train to catch.
V: "I thought you didn't know a lot of songs by them, yet you sang along to every one."
Colle: "Well, sometimes I can guess the next word in Japanese songs, and it's easy to just sing along with the last vowel sung..."
V: "...I did the exact same thing, I was just moving my mouth."
LOL. The things you do to be part of the crowd. But I really had a great time. =3
Oh yasu, come to Germany, but bring a silencer (e.g. sock) for my mouth, because I'll be howling along liek woah

I have a few other things to get off my chest, but this will do for now. I shall now download my homework and enjoy the peace a quiet of an empty house, with no children.

I love you. I really do. And I love your mini-series. But please, indulge me once in a while, and let's RP a fandom I like.

Sock has not been brought out for quite some time, meaning this one has had a quite a few enjoyable instances with RPing as of late. However, now that the sock is back, it's unfortunate that it must tell it's most recent horror stories.

Dear you,

Sock loves you, really. You're a good person, despite having problems with others in the past. However, Sock does not appreciate you throwing it into the middle of a big drama unfolding between you and some other players. Sock is also not amused when you try to give it both sides of the story, as it does not want to get involved. It appreciates you trying to justify yourself and where you lie in the whole ordeal, so that Sock understands, but sometimes things are a bit TMI and would rather not be heard. Sock tries to tell you this too, but it's never easy, because Sock is a nice person and doesn't want to seem rude.

Sock also thinks that there is a reason that things happen the way they do. Push comes to shove, and usually Sock is told that if things happen once, it may be a mistake on all ends. But if the same thing happens twice, this sock tends to believe that you are not the victim here, but possibly the cause of said reasons happening again. Please do not accuse Sock of taking sides, either- it's only trying to observe and avoid conflict, taking sides would mean trouble for this poor thing and that's the last thing it wants.

Tl;dr- Sock is a bit tired and frustrated of being shoved into situations where it clearly has no involvement whatsoever. Also, HDU statements that are constantly thrown into Sock's face can get aggravating, even if they are not directed at Sock. In addition, Sock cannot say this to you directly because it fears coming off as biased, or forced, not to mention very impolite.

Also-

To the other you,

Sock is really getting annoyed with your shenanigans. If one is accepted into an advanced, "round-robin" RP, where posts can be very long if minds are left alone long enough to be creative, Sock- as well as others in the game- expect you to do your fair share and play along according to the rules. This does not mean you take Sock's previous post (which usually is about 3 paragraphs or more, give or take), skim it over in a minute, and then post something like this:

"A walks up to B, hits them and then gets hurt and falls over and gets knocked out."

Sock realizes that one sentence posts, while they do have their uses, do not belong in an advanced RP. Most of your characterizations of pre-made characters are terrible renditions, and the only decent character that Sock notices that you play is your own OC. And most of the time they're a raging, angsting, emo-bucket of attention, complete with cursing, crying, and all-out ragefests that usually, if not always, end up as fights.

Not to mention Sock notices that you're quite the nagger over MSN. Spamming Sock with emoticons from Naruto and other fandoms is cute at first, but doing it every time afterwards and only going "lol" when Sock tells you to stop, is highly aggravating.

This concludes Sock's rant and stories. Hopefully things will be better in the future.

This question's possibly a little technical, and maybe belongs on linguaphiles or something like that, but it is related to a conlang I'm putting together, so I hope you'll bear with me!

Right now I'm building a conlang that's basically the love-child of Tibetan and Nepali for a pseudo-Tibetan society in some fic I'm writing. Tibetan's agglutinative (and Nepali is mixed agglutinative and inflective) so my morphology for this project is agglutinative. The problem is I'm not sure where to go from there.

I've studied Japanese, which is heavily agglutinative and primarily uses mostly suffixes with a handful of prefixes (like o- for formality). I've also taken a stab at Coptic, which, if memory serves, has prefixes (though I don't remember if it's agglutinative). Cue confused linguistics student.

I've also got a whole lot of different classes of affixes going on. I've never actually taken morphology so I'm not clear on the exact terminology here, but my conlang thus far features several different classes of morphemes that can be appended to verbs, including person, tense, formality, and various other factors (was it personally witnessed? Is the speaker voicing an opinion? etc). Some of the latter class of affixes are also functioning like free-morpheme copulas in some simpler sentences--this might be a problem. Mostly, though, I'm worried that this is getting maybe a little too complicated, and I'm having trouble figuring out what orders to put these suffixes in, when I'm merrily adding three or more bound morphemes to a verb.

I'm concerned particularly with verbs in my three main questions:

1) How typologically rare are languages (like Coptic) that conjugate by adding prefixes rather than adding suffixes? (In other words, is this implausible in a real-world language?)
2) How about using both prefixes and suffixes to form verbs? Is this implausible in a real-world language?
3) Could you give me some examples of how, in heavily agglutinative languages, prefixes and suffixes are ordered? If you've made a heavily agglutinative language, how did you handle this? (I could just look up how Tibetan and Nepali do it, but that's proving a little difficult to dig up, and I'd really rather deviate somehow from the source material...)
